Global Asia (Understanding | Engagement | Growth) takes advantage of Singapore's position at the heart of Asia and NTU's competitive advantage in such areas as business studies, international policies and the arts. This peak will have three foci - Business Asia, Cultural Asia and Transformational Asia - and will rest primarily on the strengths of the Nanyang Business School, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, and a number of well-established research centres such as the Institute on Asian Consumer Insight. In addition, NTU can draw on its experience in management programmes developed especially for the Chinese Market. NTU aims to become the undisputed leader of Asia research in addition to becoming a magnet for faculty, researchers and PhD students interested in Asia studies. Global Asia interacts at different points with Sustainable Earth, Secure Community and Healthy Society. In many respects, the challenges represented in the other Peaks are particularly acute in Asia, and have to be understood with reference to their complex cultural, social and political underpinnings. Global Asia, a proposed new Peak of Research Excellence for NTU 2020, may well be described as the 'Singapore Peak' in the University's continued drive towards research excellence.
There are three key foci in this Peak:
- Cultural Asia - culture, language and communications
- Transformational Asia - social transformation and resilience
- Business Asia - business and economic growth
